Loving Someone To Christ

INVITING THE PERSON TO BE SAVED

1. Make sure the person understands clearly and exactly what the Bible is telling them to do to be saved. Watch out for the person still relying upon good works in some way. Remember, there is only one thing a person can do to be saved, and that is to trust in Jesus Christ. Nothing is to be added to trust in Christ in any way.

2. Ask the person transition questions

    a. Does this make sense to you?

    b. If this makes sense to you, then doesn't it also make sense to you that you should trust in Jesus Christ right now?

    c. Would you like to trust in Jesus Christ right now?

3. Give the person time to trust Christ

    a. Stress that this is a one-time, and one-time only decision which the person is making as an act of his/her own mind.

    b. Tell the person to make this decision right now: "in the quietness of your own mind, trust in Christ the best you know how."

    c. Be quiet for at least 30 seconds to allow time for the person to make this decision.

4. Ask an affirmation question.

    a. Did you just trust Jesus Christ?

5. Rejoice with the person. (Luke 15:7, 10)

6. Pray a prayer of thanksgiving with the person.

    a. Have them pray in their own words if possible.

    b. If they do not feel comfortable praying in their own words, have them repeat after you as you give them words to pray. Don't get elaborate with your wording, keep it in simple English. (My emphasis)

    c. Then you pray for them.

7. Begin immediate follow-up.
